Abstract

This study analyzed a movie script entitled The Woman in The Window written by Tracy Letts which was adapted from novel by A. J. Finn with the same title. This study focuses on discussing the psychological aspects experienced by Anna Fox as the main character. This study uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques that include library, observation, and note methods. The data used is in the form of movie script The Woman in The Window by Tracy Letts as primary library source through an intrinsic approach in the form of characterization, plot, and setting, as well as linking it with an extrinsic approach using the concepts of anxiety and death instinct in Sigmund Freud's theory. This research is also supported by collecting journals, books, and other research from the internet as a secondary data source. The result obtained in the study is the anxiety in Anna who has agoraphobia which makes her unable to leave the house. Because of this agoraphobia often makes her experience anxiety disorders. Anna's anxiety was also due to her witness to Katie's death and the fact her family had died. The anxiety related to the appearance of the death instinct in her actions and behavior.
